why would anybody pay a penny for a thought they've
confiscated every other value that we brought
it's just a tiny matter of holding down the fort you'll
find it in the small print of my weekly month's report
and the sum of what was said the gist that was agreed
something will be transferred when it's shown what we will be
Chorus:
marvelous sun is setting to make the day complete the
night will enter stage left if we still decide to meet
and if there's then a morning we will try to be asleep
as if it's something that requires a nose for the discrete
2.
we met our comrades on the field wanting to align the
markers with the edges playing out in dark tree line
nothing happened just at first but soon it all came down
the clouds just split and out it fell the center of the town
for what it's worth I stood my ground while others turned to flee
and what it has amounted to is not far short of free - chorus
3.
soon I know the district gate will close on those who're late the
method in their madness isn't lost on those who wait
in the distant hills where orchards lay in rows of savory fruit
the clouds beyond above and as be fore wet the astute
in fading light the carriage rides the ruts beside the fence
and all returns returns again repeats such discontent - chorus

Across the Earth

nce a year we get cherry trees blossuming in ol' D.C.
and sausage making in the capital makes me woozy for the people
one day we might get something neat
an end to pollution or some other treat
like taxes on the rich to help the poor
a brilliant bill to end all war
hey we'll be dancin in the street brothers and sisters singin sweet
songs about sharing enough for all across the earth we'll hear that call
2.
after the dance we'll end conflict be resolved with our consent
no more hunger or suffering homeless now part of the family
i predict it happening or alternatively ending
civilization can't survive the patriarchal prison lie
hey we'll be dancin in the street brothers and sisters singin sweet
songs about sharing enough for all across the earth we'll hear that call

The Three Ps
02:21
|
|
||
the millionaire billionaires don't hold with sharing
manipulate us with stuff like gay marriage
abortion deflects the fairness they oppose
tar us big spend liberals and get the fire hose
a little pepper spray billy clubs and mass arrest
if it comes to it bullets wouldn't be amiss
and if they buy the congress and own the courts
the pres is in their pocket they're fixed up of course
they own the media keep discussion narrow
hysterical right to somewhere short of middle
and when a crisis hits now's their chance to pass
laws that favor them that before had not a chance
they talk democracy but ally with the tyrants
all the rich together have to use some sense
to keep the three Ps privilege profits power
in their hands the rest can run their mower
and shine their boots and serve their meals and grow their food
and drive their cars and wash their clothes and stack their wood
fly their jets build their buildings day care their kids
fight their wars coop ourselves for their mantra
that they will rule and we will not
and they will thrive and we will rot
and don't forget god always so fine
they call opponents godless works every time
it's serious business this business-as-usual
gotta keep us dumbed down meets with their approval
cuz if they're going to own profits and power
and keep their place high in the privilege tower
some gotta be down for them to be up
that's the simple truth that keeps them in their cups
they have us pay the taxes for police to oppress
they'll put theirs off-shore the IRS can't get it
if we mention class they accuse us of class war
point out the welfare queen always worked before
they staff think tanks for talking points a day
repeat till we believe repeat it as we pray
and while they're at the golf course we'll be bowling
and while they're at the stock market we'll be howling
for stuff we think we need that they have fed us
TV big screen trinkets that they let us
the millionaire billionaires don't hold with sharing
they'll do what they gots to do to keep us Nike wearing
keep us not comparing keep us from staring
not notice how we're faring not notice
who rules for whose benefit

takin bribes now ain't corrupt
the trouble with that if we want our state back
we'll have to switch over to Stacey Evans
